ePrescribe allows appropriately licensed clinicians to electronically send prescriptions to pharmacies and to receive refill requests from pharmacies. ePrescribe also allows prescribers to obtain a client’s medication history via the Surescripts® network and look up pharmacy benefits and formulary lists. TherapyNotes ePrescribe includes optional features that support electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) and prescribing of narcotics.
Enable ePrescribe for Your Practice
For clinicians to enroll in ePrescribe, the ePrescribe feature must first be enabled for the practice.
- Navigate to Settings > ePrescribe.
- Review your practice’s information for accuracy.
- Select Enable ePrescribe.
Once successfully enabled, a green confirmation banner will appear at the top of the page: “You have successfully enabled ePrescribe for your practice. The prescribers in your practice must enroll individually before they can start using it.”
Prerequisites to Enroll Clinicians in ePrescribe
Before enrolling in ePrescribe, you must meet the following prerequisites, depending on your role as a Prescriber or Prescription Support Staff:

They will not have the ability to approve prescriptions or respond to pharmacy requests.

Identity Proofing and EPCS Onboarding
Once the initial enrollment process has been completed, an email invitation will be sent to the address listed under the user's Staff Info with instructions for Identity Proofing (IDP).
Identity Proofing (IDP)
-
IDP or IAL2 (Identity Assurance Level 2) is required for:
- Prescribers not enrolling in EPCS

- Binding a two-factor authentication token
To complete the identity proofing process, follow these steps:

-
Accept Terms: Accept the InfinID Application Terms of Use by checking the box and click I Accept to proceed.

Upload ID and Selfie: Accept the terms again to choose a form of ID to upload (e.g., driver's license). Take and upload front and back photos of the ID. Next, you will be asked to take a selfie (recommended without glasses).
- Return to Computer: On your computer screen where you scanned the QR code, click Check Status.
- Receive Verification Code: If your phone number is verified, you'll get a text message with a verification code. If not, a letter will be mailed to your address in 5–7 business days with a code.
-
Enter the Verification Code: Click the link in the confirmation email from Experian to enter your NPI number and the verification code (from text or mail). Keep this email; it’s needed to complete the process.
