Billing Document Overview

TherapyNotes offers the ability to create client statements, receipts, superbills, and CMS-1500 claims.

Statements

TherapyNotes allows you to create client statements directly in the Billing tab of a patient’s chart. With the new Statement Previews, feature, you can preview the statement before saving to ensure accuracy, automatically save the statement to the patient’s Documents tab, and share the statement quickly through the client portal or download and print it.

Receipts

Generate receipts for client payments in the Billing tab of the patient’s chart. For more information, read How to Generate a Receipt in TherapyNotes.

Superbills

Superbills are detailed records of payments made by patients that can be submitted to insurance providers for reimbursement. These can also be created in the Billing tab of the patient’s chart.

CMS-1500 Claims

The CMS-1500 form is a hard copy of a claim used for manual submission to insurance companies. To create a CMS-1500 form:

1. Ensure the Status for the date of the claim is set to Manual by clicking on the claim’s date and updating the field.
2. Access the Create CMS-1500 link in the Billing tab of the patient’s chart.
