What's the difference between TherapyNotes.com and TherapyNotes Mobile?
TherapyNotes now offers a native mobile app, TherapyNotes Mobile, for iOS/IPadOS and Android. TherapyNotes Mobile is a companion app for TherapyNotes.com, and has functionality prioritizing experiences that only a native mobile app can provide. Many of our power users know that TherapyNotes.com itself is already fully mobile optimized and may wonder what the benefits are of the new native mobile app.
TherapyNotes Mobile has the following functionality:
- Quick access to your agenda of upcoming appointments, with offline access
- Quick access to your patient directory, including contact information, with offline access
- A mobile-optimized secure messaging experience, with notifications when you receive new messages
- A notification when your appointment is about to start
- A notification that it is time to wrap up your appointment
- Biometrics login support, such as Face ID or fingerprint (depending on your device)
- Automatic login to the web application for certain functionality as needed (editing appointments and telehealth)
Current TherapyNotes Mobile limitations:
- Clinicians have access to their own agenda only. There is no support for anyone to view someone else’s calendar, such as Schedulers.
- Some functionality links the user to the web application such as editing appointments or starting telehealth. Future versions of the app will bring this into the native app for a better experience.
- There are no features related to notes, billing, reports, the portal or various other features not noted above. Of course, for anything you can’t do in the app, you can simply log into the web application (therapynotes.com).
Are there additional fees to use TherapyNotes Mobile?
No. TherapyNotes Mobile is included with your existing TherapyNotes subscription at no additional cost. You can download for free from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Will I be logged out of the website if I use TherapyNotes Mobile?
In most cases, you can use the TherapyNotes Mobile App and the web app at the same time. However, starting certain actions from the Mobile App will sign you out of any active TherapyNotes sessions on the web. This includes:
- Launching a Telehealth session
- Starting TherapyFuel Scribe
- Opening to view additional patient or appointment details in the browser
This behavior occurs because you are being linked to the web application from within the mobile app. Future iterations of the app will reduce the frequency of this occurring, as we move more functionality into the native app.
Why can’t I access the Agenda in TherapyNotes Mobile?
Access to the Agenda in the TherapyNotes Mobile App is currently limited to users with the Clinician role. The Agenda in the Mobile App shows a personal agenda with appointments assigned specifically to the logged-in clinician, and only clinicians can be assigned to appointments at this time.
Administrative users, such as Schedulers and Billers, won’t currently see the Agenda page in the Mobile App, but they can still use other features, including Secure Messaging.
Can my clients use TherapyNotes Mobile?
No. The TherapyNotes Mobile App is designed for clinicians and practice staff, and is not intended for patient use. Patients should continue to access forms, documents, and other information through TherapyPortal on the web from their desktop or mobile device. We’re actively exploring ways to make mobile access easier for patients in the future!
Will TherapyNotes Mobile include more features, such as billing, in the future?
Yes. TherapyNotes Mobile is in its initial release, and we’re actively working on improvements and new functionality. Our next major area of focus is expanding scheduling features, and we have plans to support targeted billing workflows as well. We’ll continue to prioritize enhancements based on how customers use the app and the feedback we receive.
