Using TherapyFuel Session Assist

TherapyFuel Session Assist helps clinicians prepare for upcoming therapy sessions by generating a concise summary of key clinical information before the appointment. Session Assist reviews the logged-in clinician’s recent signed progress notes and current Treatment Plan to provide relevant context directly within the appointment workflow.

Session Assist is available in both TherapyNotes and the TherapyNotes® Mobile App for practices subscribed to TherapyFuel.

Role Required: Clinician Enrolled in TherapyFuel

 

Session Assist Requirements

Session Assist generates when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The appointment is within 72 hours
  • The most recent previous Therapy Session Progress Note is:
    • Completed
    • Signed
    • Associated with an appointment within the last 45 days
Note: Session Assist uses appointment dates, not note signature dates, when determining the 45-day requirement.

 

Access Session Assist 

Desktop Experience

You can access Session Assist from:

  • The Home page
  • Any Scheduling page using Agenda view

To view a Session Assist summary:

  • Locate an eligible upcoming Therapy Session
  • Select Session Assist next to the appointment

  • View the generated summary within the Notes tab of the Appointment dialog

TherapyNotes Mobile App

To access Session Assist in the mobile app:

  • Open the Agenda tab
  • Select an eligible upcoming appointment displaying the Session Assist icon

  • Tap View Session Assist within the Appointment Details dialog

The summary will generate instantly within the mobile experience.

Note: Session Assist is enabled by default for clinicians with access to TherapyFuel. Availability can be managed from the TherapyFuel tab within the staff profile.

 

Session Assist Summary Overview

Depending on available content, Session Assist may generate up to three sections:

  1. Identified Risks: Displays relevant clinical risks identified in the most recent signed Progress Note.
  2. Previous Plan Summary: Displays a summary of the previous session’s Plan section from the most recent signed Progress Note.
  3. Recent Treatment Summary: Provides a concise summary generated from:
    • Up to the last 3 signed Therapy Progress Notes within the last 45 days
    • The current Treatment Plan
Note: If no Identified Risks or Previous Plan Summary content is available, those sections will not appear.

Session Assist is available only for:

  • Individual Therapy Sessions
  • Therapy sessions occurring within the next 72 hours

Session Assist is not available for:

  • Group Therapy Sessions
  • Therapy Sessions scheduled directly after a Therapy Intake appointment for the logged-in clinician

 

When Session Assist Will Not Generate

Session Assist will not generate if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The appointment is more than 72 hours in the future
  • The most recent Therapy Session Progress Note is incomplete or unsigned
  • No signed Therapy Progress Notes exist within the last 45 days
  • Previous note(s) do not meet minimum generation requirements.

Examples of insufficient summary content may include:

  • Very short notes
  • Minimal Plan section content
  • Notes lacking enough clinical detail for summarization
