GROUP SESSION

When you schedule a group session TherapyNotes will automatically add links to do progress notes for each of the participants to your to-do list. Every participant must have his own treatment plan and progress note. The note name will automatically be set up in a few ways to faster to do the note: The group name will be called "Group Therapy Progress Note" and the other attendees section will automatically be completed.

I don't understand what is being said The note name will automatically be set up in a few ways to faster to do the note: The group name will be called "Group Therapy Progress Note" and the other attendees section will automatically be completed." Does this mean that if I create a Group Therapy Progress Note, each member will automatically get the same note? If so this is great, rather than duplicating manually each PN for each member of the group. Please clarify. Thanks.

    Anthony,

Each note will be the same in the sense that it is a progress note. However all of the group therapy participants will have different objectives and diagnoses as they will all have treatment plans done individually where the objective and diagnoses will populate onto their progress notes. Each participant will have to have a note to complete. Your to do list will populate with to do items for each participants progress note. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

For 90847 for couples and family therapy, do I need separate notes for each member? I thought I only needed progress notes for the "identified patient"

For couples or family therapy, choose a primary patient and create a patient record for him or her. On the patient's Patient Information tab you can add contacts for other participants in the therapy such as the partner, children, or parents. All appointments and notes will be assigned to the primary patient. When you create the appointment, use the regular therapy session type, not the group therapy type. When doing the notes, some fields might not be applicable for this session, so work with them the best you can. (A primary diagnosis is required, and "N/A" can be entered if desired.) Also, in the header of the notes you can also add participants to the notes.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We can also be reached at 215-658-4550 or via email at support@therapynotes.com. Thank you!

Is there a way to copy automatically across group notes certain sections that would be the same for each attendee (such as interventions, content of group), or does one need to enter this manually for each group member?

    Erin,

I am sorry there is not a way to automatically copy information across different patients' group notes. You will need to manually enter the information into each note per patient. Note that you can use the "History" button in each field in the note template to pull information from that patient's previous note into the current template.

I run a "task-based" group for a particular type of treatment. It would be helpful to be able to assign certain "Objectives" or "Goals" to an entire group population rather than one at a time. Adding some individual goals is good - but the ability to "apply" the same goals or comments to all group attendees would be really helpful. I like the ability to customize the "Interventions" section - I would like that same sort of ability to check-box goals or objectives in an initial treatment plan. Or have a customizeable "drop down" menu that I could choose from and edit a few words as needed (e.g. gender based pronouns, or couple vs individual, etc). The most time consuming aspect of TherapyNotes is entering info for a New Client - because the Intake Note is "Set" and fields are not always pertinent - or have an "online form" in the therapy portal in which clients can pre-fill fields about medical and personal history, etc. I actually would like a section in the intake note for "clients goals" - so I don't have to switch over to a treatment plan to input that. Also, I often run out of allowable number of characters for certain fields when the client is complex with trauma - having to make due with the sections. Thoughts and recommendations are for ongoing improvement. I like and refer professional colleagues to TherapyNotes all the time. I have tried a few others since planning and opening this practice 2 1/2 years ago. By far TherapyNotes offers the best features and consistent access. You are doing a GREAT JOB! And it is impressive that you are so willing to get feedback and incorporate changes from your users.

Chris, Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! As you know, the Group Notes currently do not offer the features that you outline, however I will forward your feedback to management to take into consideration for future planning.

We have an intensive outpatient program with facilitators therefore different clinicians will document in the patient record on different days. I am looking for an EHR that will accommodate this. Will Therapy notes do this?

    Cheryl,

Any clinician assigned to a patient can write notes for them. To assign multiple clinicians to a patient have a clinical administrator do the following:
PATIENTS at the top > Click name > Clinicians tab > Select clinician from drop down > Click the blue "+ Add Assignment" button > Click the green "Save Permissions" button

Please note that ALL clinicians assigned to a patient can see ALL notes, even if they are written by someone else assigned to the patient.

We also would LOVE for there to be a Group Note that allows for a section where goals/objectives are written for the entire group (all participants in that session) and then a spot for individual progress/relevant information. It would make sense to have this be somehow different. Thanks for considering for the future!

    Julie,

To mark a client in the group that missed the appt, please go to scheduling and click on their names under the date. In the pop up click on the X next to their name and choose "patient missed appointment". We will be updating our group notes in a future update. If you have any questions please contact support at 215-658-4550.

I agree that it would be much more user friendly for the group note section to be more easily auto populated for areas that would likely be the same across group members.

I'm going to add my voice to this as well - it would make much more sense to have common areas of the group note (group overview, etc.) auto-populate amongst members of the group.

    Gregory,

Thank you for your suggestion. We are planning to add group note templates in a future update. If anyone has an example of a group note template that they use, we will take them as suggestions. We value your input and will forward your feedback to management for review. Thank you!
