How to access the Write-Off Report

Navigate to the Billing Tab > More Reports > select Write Off Report

To Create a Report

  • To create a Write-Off report, select the Write-Offs report type.
  • Optionally, filter for date of the charge, clinician, type, payment method, location, write-off reason, and written-off by.
  • To generate the report, click Create Report.

You can create a report for any write-off reason or customize your report for a specific write-off reason. Currently, TherapyNotes users can choose from any reason, unknown reason, sliding scale, small balances, no insurance, contractual agreement, bad debt, collection agency, and others.

How to View Your Report

After you have generated your report, it will appear as a table below the Create Report box.

You can click on specific totals in your report to learn more about the charge. By selecting the write-off amount, a new dialog will appear.

This dialog will appear with the date of service, patient information, the service codes, payer, rate, patient amount, patient paid, write-off, and the patient balance.

You can hover over the Write-Off amount and see why it was written-off, the staff member who wrote-off the charge, and the date & time.

You have two options to export your report. In the upper right corner of the report, you'll notice an option to Export as a Spreadsheet or Save/Print as PDF.

When selecting Export as a Spreadsheet or Save/Print as a PDF, the file will be available in your download folder.
